2023 Haiti Team Mission Trip

Focus Area Haiti: Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere and one of the poorest countries in the developing world. With its’ combination of political upheavals, natural disasters (earthquakes and hurricanes); energy crisis’; malnourishment; lack of quality education; and voodoo practices it remains a very challenging, difficult country for the people who live there. Less than half the population is literate. Only about one child in five of secondary-school age actually attend school. Approximately 100,000 children under the age of five are malnourished while 30% of the overall population is considered as food insecure. Only about ¼ of the population have access to clean, safe water. Almost 25% of Haitians live in extreme poverty, which is less than $1.25 per day. Approximately 59% of Haitians live on less than $2 per day. However, we rejoice that, especially in the areas where we are involved (Northern Haiti) the rate of extreme poverty has begun to decline. We are, prayerfully, seeing spiritual revival; employment opportunities; community-building; and entrepreneurship! On an on-going basis over the many years we have been involved in Haiti we have implemented the following (as part of our overall mission plan): Church planting; leadership training; assistance of the poor; and most recently we are implementing medical & community health initiatives; and quality education of the current and next generation.
